I commute with it often. I got tired of flat tires (especially the ultra difficult rear tire). This tire works well. It is thick and well protected. I cannot replace my back tire very easily due to a complex design of my recumbent bike, weight of commuting items (laptop) and the presence of a rear fender. Tube replacement on the road is not an option that I can consider unless it is an emergency. In the past I have had several flats due to items (glass, bolts, nails, and thorns) on the roadway. This tire reduces the chances of a puncture on the road. I ride more knowing that my rear tire is well protected. My front tire is too small to find a similar tire, but tube replacement is far easier on the road.A few items worth noting...The tire does not support a very high pressure like my old tire, but this is not too much of an issue since the max pressure is only a small difference. They're tough, but get the slime tubes in ASAP for added protection. The front or rear on my bike is not road-side changable, so it's a real pain to flat. First season, riding at 70psi and averaging 20mph, was 900 miles, with no sign of wear. Remember that I'm driving both front (electric motor) and rear (human 7sp power). I use a Hebb Electric Cruiser for a mobile business and ride all over San Francisco that has some very poor roads at times. According to the certified bike repair person, my back tire is just fine and likely worth another 6 months of riding. He said my front tire is a little worn for rain slick riding. I'd rather be safe then sorry of course so I'm getting a front tire now. I haven't had any flat tire unlike my last bike that got one every 6 weeks. These are great tires. |
