I was looking for one that would hold plenty of water for all-day hikes, without having to bother with tons of unnecessary storage space (I pack light!). This pack is perfect - a 3 liter bladder, and just enough room for your hiking basics.The X-factor harness looked odd to me, and honestly, I was skeptical. It looks weird criss-crossing between my boobs, and I find that as I hike, my shirts tend to bunch up strangely in the front, and it's really annoying. Being a busty girl, I really don't need more bulk in that area! Plus, having the straps across your chest like that seems to retain a lot more heat. However, this pack feels like it was custom-made for me. Totally NOT bulky, you can move your arms much more freely than with other packs. No way this thing is going to slide off to one side, and the pack lays along your spine like it was molded to you! It took a few uses to get it fitted properly. The shoulder straps are adjustable by moving the straps up/down the Velcro connectors. It took a few uses to get the straps in the right place.The reservoir is a unique design and very easy to clean. You can turn it completely inside out for cleaning and drying. I use it for long day hikes. There are a couple of pockets in the back. I usually put in a sandwich, small first aid kit, wallet, flashlight, and snacks and there is still plenty of room. There is a small internal waterproof pocket for a wallet or iPod/phone which came in very handy recently when it started pouring in the middle of a hike. I have used it enough that it needed washing. I put it in the machine on gentle and air dried it with no bad effects. It is as good as new. I would recommend this for day hikes, biking, or running. |
